bio

I'm a proud SU Orangewoman (Newhouse graduate) with over 15 years of experience as a copywriter, both in individual contributor and management-level roles.

Following graduation, I interned at Crispin in Miami, FL, working on brands such as Under Armour Basketball and Vitamin Water.

After that, I landed my first full-time gig at Martin in Buffalo, NY, caring for the beloved Buffalo Bills and a client roster of mainly financial, healthcare, and various B2B brands.

Then I made my way to Partners + Napier in Rochester, NY, focusing mostly on new business and digital for Pepsi, Blink Fitness, Galbani and President Cheeses, and Constellation Wines.

I moved from Partners + Napier to Roberts Communications to write for accounts primarily in the health, wealth, and financial industries.

Currently, I'm at Helen + Gertrude, where I'm a Creative Services Lead and specialize in digital marketing, especially social media.

word on the street

"Powerhouse pillar within the creative department - clear communicator, flexible collaborator, vision caster, empathic and advocate for all team members, always willing to roll up her sleeves and deliver stellar, above and beyond work."

—Kirsten VandenBout, Creative Director, Helen + Gertrude

"Jill has thrived in championing and promoting collaboration across teams and departments. We've worked on several projects and RFPs together over the last year, and each one has been improved by Jill's focus on getting the right people in the room for the job."

—Séamus Spencer, Creative Services Lead, Design, Helen + Gertrude

"Jill does a great job pushing her team to build skills outside of just copywriting and has in-turn strengthened their strategy muscles a lot this year with strategy finishing school and beyond. She also is a key player in QA for the creative team and sets a high standard for being detail oriented and thoughtful with our why."

—Amy Sadler, Creative Services Lead, Production, Helen + Gertrude

"If you could bottle up Jill’s passion and ambition, you could easily outsell the Snuggie ten-fold. Not only is she an excellent writer, diligent researcher, and supremely creative thinker, she’s also an overall awesome, fun person to have around the office. Any agency would be lucky to have her on the team."

—Chris Muldoon, Freelance Copywriter

"Jill Duff! I worked with Jill on a lot of projects for a range of clients. She was a pleasure to work with, brought a ton of good ideas to the table, and is one of the most energetic and optimistic writers I know. She is always thinking about how an idea can be extended into digital and social, and is very knowledgeable about the latest technologies that can be used to do so."

—Max Brown, Creative Manager, Heard Creative

"Jill is a Creative Director’s dream, possessing the passion, energy, drive and potent curiosity that strong ideas are made of. She takes research seriously, but does not allow it to be a crutch. She understands her place on a team, but is not afraid to challenge - respectfully - the best minds in the room. She embraces all that is new in media and communication while at the same time honoring the past. In short, for Jill, advertising is a lifestyle and an adventure – not a job."

—Greg Meadows, Creative Director, Greg Meadows Design

"Copywriting is more than just words on paper or persuasive wordsmithing. The best copywriters have an insightful curiosity about them that drives them to seek out human experiences. Jill was one of my interns at Crispin Porter + Bogusky during 2011-2012 and her insatiable curiosity was the first thing I noticed about her. When asked to write copy for vitaminwater, she drew upon her own experiences, nostalgia and clever associations to write some truly human and relatable bottle label copy. She was also assigned to many other accounts where she demonstrated an intense fire for her craft. As a person, Jill is intelligent but humble, easygoing yet professional and the kind of employee that acts as glue for the rest of the team. I hope we work together again as she was a mind I really enjoyed observing in action."

—Carla Madden, Creative Director, Consultant

"Jill frequently says that her main client is the copy team, and she is truly a great manager. She not only manages our workload/resourcing/the nitty-gritty project management tasks well, but she also manages people well because she comes from a place of empathy and a true willingness to have hard conversations which is a rare skill. Jill has fostered a copy team that supports each other and prioritizes bonding outside of working time. She is also an amazing writer and her style and functional expertise is irreplaceable. Thanks for being you, Jill! We're so lucky to have you."

—Claire O'Reilly, Copywriter, Helen + Gertrude
